The 18th IRB EWG meeting was organised in Chisinau on 10 April 2025. During the meeting participants reviewed and validated data broadband coverage in EaP, which had been collected by IRB EWG members and submitted to the EU4Digital team by 1 March 2025. Participants discussed the results aggregated by the EU4Digital team, which showcased the development of broadband networks across the EaP countries.
Extended discussions on the “Note on the Digital Decade Policy Programme” (DDPP) were also held during the meeting. If endorsed by the relevant EaP stakeholders, the broadband coverage exercise could lead to extension of the collected indicators in line with the EU DDPP.
Meeting was attended by the representative of the WBG who updated the participants on the broadband connectivity projects in the EaP region. These projects aim at conducting feasibility studies for state aid and public-private partnerships (PPPs) meant to address investment needs in each country. The WBG presentation also included a Quality of Service (QoS) analysis for each EaP country, using metadata from speed tests conducted between 2021 and March 2025.
