    • 17/11/22

The 14th meeting of SEWG took place in Vilnius, Lithuania on 14-15 November 2022. The meeting was held in a hybrid format, so the representative of all the EaP countries could join discussions and share their views.

In a two-day SEWG meeting, experts discussed authorization of radio spectrum for 5G, SmallCells regulation in the EU, QoS requirements for IMT, radio spectrum sharing issues, mobile network coverage and throughput calculations (also known as broadband mapping), T-DAB technology development, current spectrum-related activities and insights from the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), RSPG, EC DG CNECT, WorldDAB, and other issues.

The EU4Digital team introduced the group to Phase II of Telecom Rules and proposed 5 potential topics for the II phase of cooperation between EU4Digital and SEWG.

The possibilities of signing the Regional Spectrum Agreement RSA were discussed. RSA would set a harmonized freeing-up and usage of 700 MHz and 3,5 GHz bands for 5G development in EaP countries, which is of mutual importance and relevance for both EaP and EU countries. It is expected to sign RSA in the nearest future.
