The 24th Plenary Meeting of the Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg) took place in Chisinau, Moldova on 27-28 November 2024, as a hybrid event. A total number of 109 participants (35 onsite and 74 online), among them the representatives of DG CONNECT and DG NEAR, EU4Digital, the World Bank, ITU, BEREC, BEREC Office and EMERG participated in the Plenary. The event was hosted by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) of Moldova, EaPeReg Chair 2024. The logistics was provided by Cecoforma, in cooperation with ANRCETI team. The event was sponsored by DG NEAR of the European Commission. The Plenary Meeting was moderated by Sergiu Gaibu, ANRCETI Director and EaPeReg Chair for 2024, Inga Popovici, representative of EaPeReg Vice-Chair 2024 and Gheorghe Cociorva, representative of EaPeReg Chair 2024.
The main goal of the Plenary Meeting was to:
- Present, discuss and evaluate EaPeReg activities in 2024, according to EaPeReg Work Plan, including an overview of the leadership activities undertaken in 2024.
- Update the participants on the developments/progress under the initiative EU4Digital on Telecom Rules streams.
- Present and discuss detailed reports of the Spectrum Expert Working Group (SEWG), Roaming Expert Working Group (REWG) and Independent Regulators and Broadband Working Group (IRB EWG) activities in 2024;
- Share the expertise of countries on two topics of current relevance for Eastern Partnership (EaP) – 5G Private Networks and Quality of Internet Services (QoS).
- Organize, in cooperation with ITU, EMERG and EaPeReg, a Joint Workshop on Broadband Mapping, to share best practices on broadband mapping tools, investment opportunities, etc., based on countries’ best practices.
- Discuss cooperation activities with BEREC, as well as the progress under trilateral cooperation Plan between EaPeReg, EMERG and ITU
- Update the participants on EaP policy documents and upcoming Eastern Partnership (EaP) events, other matters considered relevant by the European Commission representatives to be communicate to EaPeReg Network.
- Conduct elections of EaPeReg Chair and Vice-Chair for 2025
- Discuss the proposed EaPeReg’s Work Plan and key events for 2025 and decide on date/venue for the 25th Plenary Meeting.
